If you’ve ever wondered who keeps our supplies flowing, our shelves stocked, and our stickers everywhere they need to be (and in the cutest packaging), meet the woman behind the scenes making it all happen: Parmisse - supply chain manager, unicorn enthusiast, inventory checker, and long-time Hubman & Chubgirl fan turned team member. 

Let’s get to know her a little better! 🌈

How did you first discover Hubman & Chubgirl?
“Through a Hubman & Chubgirl comic about Disney back in 2020!”

Can you remember your very first order? 
“Yes of course, it was in 2021!”

Back in early 2021, Parmisse saw the Rainbow Unicorns subscription being promoted and instantly fell in love. The renewal date back then was the 1st of every month but waiting until March 1st felt impossible.

“So I subscribed on February 28th, 2021 just so I wouldn’t have to wait an extra day,” she laughs. “It was unicorns! I couldn’t wait!" Because she subscribed before the renewal cycle, the team refunded her that month, a funny little memory she recalls fondly.

What do you love most about stickers?
“For me, it’s all about the cuteness and the colours! I’m obsessed with animal stickers, they’re my favourite. That’s why Pecca’s designs feel so perfect for me. I really connect with her style, and I think the most special thing is their cute faces and how she brings the characters to life.”

What does your day look like as a Supply Chain Manager?
She laughs, “Where should I start? I usually have pretty busy days.”

Her days usually consist of checking Shopify, WhatsApp, email, and Slack to see what stock is looking like. From there, she jumps into coordinating with suppliers, placing orders for stock, and making sure every product we need is on its way. Sometimes that means chatting with suppliers late at night when time zones overlap.

She’s also always planning ahead for upcoming collections. “If a new collection is coming, I’m on Shopify setting listings up, checking how everything looks and making sure we’re ready. If a freebie runs out, I make sure we restock it or choose a new one. Freebies are such a big part of our shop experience, so I take it seriously.”

Back when the team was much smaller, things looked a lot different.
“When we were just a tiny team, I counted every single thing that came into the office.” Now things are more streamlined, with help from two warehouse points. “I have someone in Toronto who gives me counts, and someone in Houston who does the same. Between the two warehouses, I check if everything has been received.”

Overall, her role is a mix of organizing, communicating, planning, and making sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly so customers always receive their happy mail.

What inspired you to join the H&C team?
“I studied Communications as well as Sports Journalism and have two degrees from back home in Peru, but at the time I was working in a fast-food restaurant. I’d been a customer of H&C for a while and one day I just decided to apply. I sent in my application in May 2022, and a few months later in September I got the call, did the interview, and was hired!”

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about your role?
“I check inventory even on weekends, and I sometimes talk to suppliers at 9 or 10pm. I knew this going in, and I really don’t mind,  it’s just part of keeping things running smoothly.”

If something urgent comes up, Parmisse jumps in right away.
“A day I wait is a day lost for stock to be ready. So even on weekends, I’ll reply depending on the urgency. It’s all about keeping everything on track.”

What’s the best part about your role as Supply Chain Manager?
“Definitely getting to see all the designs before anyone else! I’m the one who places the orders, so I get first peek at everything! I’m always snooping around the design folder to see what Pecca has drawn next. I also check in with her about what to order for tests, and upcoming collections.”

Any memorable moments or funny stories from working behind the scenes?
“There are honestly so many! I’ve seen the team grow and change so much over the years. But the most memorable was when we moved from our tiny office into the much bigger one we have now. We had no idea we’d outgrow the space so quickly. Seeing everyone come together to make that move happen and realizing how much we had grown as a team was amazing. It really is a collective effort!”

Have you met any friends or had standout interactions in our Facebook group/Discord?
“Yes, mainly through Discord! I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people there. From back in January 2023, I was active both as a customer and as an H&C representative.”

She still helps people in the community whenever she can.
“I love being there for the members not because anyone tells me to, but because I genuinely enjoy helping. I’ve met some incredibly kind and sweet people, and a few of them have actually become real friends.”

What does your own journal/planner look like these days?
“I honestly haven’t written much lately because I’m in the process of moving houses. My planner definitely has stickers in it although the pages are pretty empty right now, but I do like to plan!”

What would you tell someone who dreams of working in a creative company like this?
“Just apply. Seriously, you might think you won’t get it but life has a funny way of surprising you. I waited four months before I got my call and now here I am, three years later, doing a job I really love. So just go for it. You never know what could happen.”

What’s been your favourite part of working here so far?
“My favourite part has definitely been seeing the whole creative process of how this works. I get to watch everything from the very beginning. From the first drawings and files, all the way to the final stickers being produced. Seeing Pecca create and seeing the team bring it to life, it’s amazing to see how an idea becomes real stickers.”

“Keep loving stickers as much as I do. You’re not a hoarder and it’s totally fine to love stickers!!” 🦄
